The 77th winner of the 1000 Guineas, held on Friday 2nd May 1890 over the Rowley Mile, was Semolina (1/2 fav), a bay filly by St Simon out of Mowerina, owned by the 6th Duke of Portland. The winner won by 3/4 length in 1 minute 48.80 secs, with 1 1/2 lengths back to the third. A field of 10 runners contested the race which was worth £4,250 (Equivalent to £501,500 in 2017)
